Size: 4.2mm
I thought this was another Hydroporus, but it appears to clearly have the epipleurae carina at base, which points to Hygrotus? Suggestions welcome :)

If what I see in the ventral image is a medial longitudinal impression on the posterior half of abdominal sternum 6 (last visible abdominal sternite), it is definitely that species. Widespread across the northern US including NJ. Seems to be surprisingly rare in Canada as Larson mentioned few records in his Canada/Alaska book and I have never seen/collected one. A new one for the guide..thanks!
