Small Beetle - Triplax flavicollis
Hopkins Gap, Little North Mountain, Rockingham County, Virginia, USA
August 5, 2010
Size: ~4 mm
This little beetle was exploring a recently fallen leaf. It has interesting brush shaped mouthparts but I haven't had much luck figuring it out.

P.E. Skelley: "Most likely Triplax flavicollis,
"...with margined elytral base, amount of palpal dilation, August activity and Virginia collection."
