After I mis-moved this specimen, I decided to re-run it, too, and it turns out to be Blauta cribraria, a new genus for BugGuide. It also matched well with the MCZ type
here
. It's easy to mis-key to Hemicrepidius, due to the depressed frontal area.

I am going through some of my earlier dets and this is a Blauta sp. Similar to Hemicrepidius, but the pronotalsternal sutures are open.

No problemo
it keys out nice but I hope one of the big elaterid gurus can confirm. The gestalt doesn't grab me for Hemicrepidius but it keys out OK!

Hemicrepidius
Keying of voucher specimen has this coming up as Hemicrepidius
(
1
)
:
-no setae on tarsal claws
-vesiture slender, hair-like
-claws simple, not pectinate or serrate
-tarsal segements 2-3 (1?) with membraneous pads
-pronotal hind angle distinctly projecting from hypomeron
-frontal margin depressed and not projecting over labrum
I do not have a key (yet) to the species to go farther at this time.

Neat
I hope this help start our collaboration! :) Not sure off-hand. It is not a Melanotus sp., as the tarsal claws are not serrate.
