Moths and larve? - Ephoron album

Moths and larve? - Ephoron album
Clarkston, Cache County, Utah, USA
August 8, 2010
Size: About 1/2"
I woke up this morning to a moth covered porch. All of these moths were surrounded by little things that looked like broken spaghetti pieces. Not sure if they are larve or what. I saw these at a friends house several years ago swarming around their outdoor light. Thousands of them. I can't remember what he said they were but I do remember him saying that they only come out every 7 years or so to mate and die.. Any ideas as to what they are? Thanks!

Not moths
These are actually mayflies, more info here. The yellowish things are eggs, which mayflies will commonly drop as they near death.

Not an ID
just an idea or two

It would be unusual for the wings of a moth to be entirely transparent like that. But the body shape looks like it could be from a moth. The behavior you mention sounds like a cicada. These don't really look like cicadas to me, though, although it's hard to say given this picture. Do you have a close-up? Note that if your picture is larger than 560 pixels, only you and moderators can see the larger size.

Yes it's the behavior of a cicada but definantly much smaller than one. I'll post another picture of one. Hopefully it will end up where you can see it :)
