The hind metatarsus is narrow
The hind metatarsus is narrowly orange at base then a broad black band and then narrowly orange at tip. This is on all the Platycheirus here identified as Platycheirus hyperboreus. This may be a feature to look for.

1: female -> 79
79: no corners -> 105
105: tergites have pale spots -> 108
108: all femora yellow at base -> 110
110: yellow spots reach margins -> 112
112: T5 with pale spots -> 114
114: T2 spots reduced, lots of silver pollinosity, T6 dark -> 115
115: can't judge the wings but the extensive silver pollinosity -> P. hyperboreus

Obviously Andrew Young should correct me if I'm mistaken!

Getting that to species is going to be awfully tricky, there's no Nearctic key to most of the female Platycheirus at this point.
