Western Tree Cricket - Oecanthus californicus

Western Tree Cricket - Oecanthus californicus
Fort Huachuca, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
August 8, 2010
Small nymphs occur over a long period at the fort. This one was on the ground, I scooped it up on a leaf.

GREAT photos
Those dark spots on the back are striking. I'm currently raising instars that might be californicus, or varicornis. It'll be interesting to see how the spots compare if mine turns out to be varicornis. Very helpful photos to the guide.
