Male Fairy Moth from Mt Diablo - Adela trigrapha - male

Male Fairy Moth from Mt Diablo - Adela trigrapha - Male
SE of mouth of Mitchell Canyon, Mt Diablo State Park, Contra Costa County, California, USA
March 13, 2010
Seen here on flower of Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila menziesii), near ecotone of grassland and mixed oak woodland/chaparral at NE base of Eagle Peak spur of Mt Diablo.

Three white lines on wing => A. trigrapha. Can tell it's a male in this species from lack of orange on head and large eyes (dark red, barely discernible between anthers of flower). Antennae here seem a bit shorter than usual for this species, perhaps due partly to perspective?

Yes Adela trigrapha
And it is a male. Antennae too long for female. Bands too narrow for most females. Females of both trigrapha and eldorada have a slicker appearance and a bluish sheen and their wings are proportionately broader. Also the head is too black for a female.
