Willow Oak Sawfly larvae - Arge quidia

Willow Oak Sawfly larvae - Arge quidia
Ballston Lake, Saratoga County, New York, USA
August 12, 2010
These sawfly larvae were devouring the leaves on a small oak tree. ID help appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Argid Sawflies.

Argidae
Arge quidia Smith, 1989. Typical appearance for this Arge on oaks.

Thanks, Dave.
It appears quite different than this one . Are they color variants, or is Tom's specimen misidentified?

Arge -
Tom's specimen is probbly different, though I don't know of other Arge that feed on oak. Arge quidia typically has a black head and lacks the black spots on the body.
