Curculionidae, adult - Ampeloglypter ampelopsis

Curculionidae, adult - Ampeloglypter ampelopsis
Ames - Tullamore, Story County, Iowa, USA
August 13, 2010
Size: 3.5 mm
This individual was cut out of a petiole gall of Virginia creeper, Parthenocissus quinquefolia.
A (very) similar gall cut open two months earlier housed a larva. I tried rearing several of these but the (cut and put into a jar) plants did not last long enough for the larvae to mature.
