Walking Stick? This one flies - Thesprotia graminis - male

Walking Stick? This one flies - Thesprotia graminis - Male
Brooksville, Hernando County, Florida, USA
August 11, 2010
Size: 3 Inches in length
About 3" long by about 1/8th inch at the head/neck area, expanding to maybe 1/4 to 1/2" at the winged abdomen. Generally brown in color looking at him/her, but the macro brings out the true colors. When flying you could see 4 wings. Thanks for your help

Need to see full body, but I'm gussing...

BTW, this example image is nymph. From FL.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have included another image I have that shows more of the insect. This was a very frail looking creature, and by the wing development and ability to fly clearly an adult. The nymph in your picture is far more stocky and solidly built than this was. thanks again.

Yes, I think you have, although contrary to what the poster has listed, I have found other sources that indicate that although the female is flightless, it does have wings, but they don't extend to the end of the abdomen. So, I would say that the one you supplied the link to is indeed the female, and the one I have pictured the male.

Thanks eversomuch for the help!

Welcome :)
It's nice to know that fact, we don't have it here in NJ though... :)

Grass-like Mantid?
