Syrphid Fly - Hadromyia pulchra
Paradise, Mt. Rainier, Pierce County, Washington, USA
August 13, 2010
Size: 19mm
I think it's the same species as but the abdomen was thinner.
Found on Subalpine Spiraea, Spiraea douglasii.

Hadromyia pulchra
This is Hadromyia pulchra. See the black setose thoracic dorsum and the extremely dense ventral scutellar fringe. Also see the grey pollinose fasciae above the transverse suture which is only found in this species. This species is variable in the metallic color on the abdomen. I have seen members of this species with a blue metallic abdomen, a green metallic abdomen and a bronze metallic abdomen.
