Lousy Largus Nymphs - Late Instar - Largus californicus

Lousy Largus Nymphs - Late Instar - Largus californicus
Nix Nature Center, Laguna Beach, Orange County, California, USA
August 12, 2010
Image quality here and at the associated post isn't wonderful, but these are better than nothing. Feel free to frass whenever replacements are available.

There are five instars. This is a late one; I'm guessing the fifth and final instar.

The associated post shows an early instar:

Better (and more comprehensive photos are available at: http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/hemipt/Largus%20californicus.htm

This and the associated nymph were in the company of an adult when photographed in a place where I'd shot others before.

Behavior Notes: Nymphs were tough to photograph, sort of tucked into a bush and very furtive. They had the twitchy antennae and movements of a spider wasp, and their up-one-sprig-and-down-another avoidance maneuvers were much like those of a ladybug.
