I photographed these specimens munching the leaves of a vine that was growing up my fence.

Tenthredinidae, Blennocampinae
Ceratulus spectabilis MacGillivray, 1908. These larvae are exactly like those I described for this sawfly species. The vine must be a species of Cissus, the host recorded for this species. The sawfly is known only from Texas into Mexico.

Neat!
Thank you very much! I let them eat their fill of the vine (which grows wild up my back fence and I just love it because it attracts all kinds of different native wildlife/insects). The vine is pretty hardy and after the sawfly larvae were done with it the leaves grew back thicker than ever.
