Unknown larva - Euscirrhopterus gloveri

Unknown larva - Euscirrhopterus gloveri
latitude 34.0548° N longitude 110.8098° W, elevation 5600', Gila County, Arizona, USA
August 5, 2010
Size: slightly longer than 2 in
This larva was crawling through the dirt at a cattle ranch. The nearest plants were bindweed (convolvulus), nightshade and some grasses.

Since there are so few photos posted,
I'll move it to the species for now.

I should go out and see if there are any in my yard right now. Sometimes it's hard not to step on one, but I've never bothered to take a picture of one - kind'a silly of me.

If you look on patches of Purslane [Portulaca retusa - most often], or have any Talinum in the area, that's where you should find more of them.

Moved from ID Request.

Looks to be Euscirrhopterus
Too bad the image isn't clearer. We don't see many of these.

E. gloveri ID
Thanks. That is indeed the critter and there's lots of purslane at the ranch. Next time I am there I will check it for other larvae.
