Can anyone help me identify this? - Mastigoproctus giganteus
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
August 20, 2010
Size: 3"
This insect was waiting on my front porch for me tonight around 10pm. As soon as I approached it it went into a defensive posture with the whip tail curled up over it and it's pinchers out.

Moved from Mastigoproctus.

Moved from ID Request.

I'm thinking it's a vinegaroon?

Not an insect, but an archnid.
