Identification
Adult: forewing light brown to yellowish to whitish with or without "feathered" pattern
Range
United States and southern Canada
also represented in Europe
Season
adults fly from June to September
Food
larvae feed on leaves of weedy herbaceous plants; S. chortalis feeds on Green Amaranth (Amaranthus retroflexus)
