Phanias? - Sassacus vitis - female

Phanias? - Sassacus vitis - Female
Bowers Park, Santa Clara County, California, USA
August 21, 2010
Size: 5 mm
I beat this adult female jumper from a Toyon shrub. Three sets of spines on ventral tibia I. The epigynum is small and hard for me to see well, but resembles Phanias somewhat, although the dorsal markings are much different than my common local P. harfordi... Maybe P. albeolus, or a different genus like Sassacus?

Moved from Dendryphantinae. Presumptive ID suggested by Tim Manolis, who was kind enough to look at these images for me. I then compared this specimen to a female I have that was confirmed by Jay Barnes, and the epigynum and other features seem to match well. I have yet to dissect the epigynum, which would be difficult for me at present given the size of the specimen and epigyne.

Moved from Jumping Spiders.
