LRB (little round beetle) - Cercyon praetextatus

LRB (little round beetle) - Cercyon praetextatus
Elkland, Missouri, Dallas County, Missouri, USA
August 21, 2010
Size: 1.5 mm
I tried to build a little miniature lab jack with scrap aluminum and tiny threaded rod. It's a bit rough, but I couldn't find anything on the internet to order that was about 3" x 3" with a rise to 3". Any ideas from anyone?

microscope stand
certainly not perfect, but the microscope (actually Steroscope) stand I use would probably work well for your application. I believe Nikon's "A stand" (shown in my setup) has a good "fine focus" capability, while being tight enough to hold a couple pounds without sliding. You can find them for about $100 on e-bay.

Great idea - thanks! It looks like it holds the weight of the camera without issue. The scope that went into the ring was probably heavier.
I'll look for these - good ole eBay!
