Ant Mimic True Bug -
Hyalymenus longispinus
St. Lucie County, Florida, USA
March 11, 2006
The nymphs looked very similar to the Florida Carpenter Ant.
Unfortunately, these things would not stop moving, so I could not get a good image of a nymph.

We found a similar species
here in Illinois, that was Id'd as Alydidae, Broad headed bug. Lots of images in the guide
here
. It will be fascinating to see if these really are nymph and adult!
