Attracted to my garage light.

Moved from Noctuoidea.

Suggestive of 11003.1 - Noctua pronuba
My search kept bringing me back to this possibility. (no rsvp, thanks)

Thanks
I had considered N. pronuba as well, but the hind wing is solid charcoal. Your reply challenged me to search further. After reviewing all of the Noctuina with charcoal wings I am ending up with Abagrotis alternata. Terminal light area; orbicular and reniform spots darker than ground color and outlined with pale scales; orbicular spot oval and angled 45 degrees toward wing base; no obvious patch of black scales where subterminal line meets costa. But also the proximal and midproximal lines are inverted relative to each other, actually forming an oval. In N. pronuba those lines are parrallel.

I managed to get this one for the BOLD project so I'll add more when the results come back.
