Excellent find, Nancy! At long last, these are the first images of this species on BG, found only in south Texas in the US.
As Ken pointed out, females of this species are separated from
S. caementarium
by the nearly entirely black hind legs.

Thanks for the ID
I only know tree crickets, thus had no idea this might be unusual. The only reason I take wasp photos is for Vespula V. since he's as into wasps as I am into tree crickets!
Given she was smack dab on the front side of the state park HQ building, I imagine there are many more in the Laredo area.

Black and Yellow Mud Dauber (Sceliphron caementarium):
(Although none of those in the Guide seem to have completely dark hind legs.)
