Strange insect found indoors

Strange insect found indoors
Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
August 23, 2010
Size: 1/2 to 3/4 inch
This was under my daughters bed (tile floor). It can run forward or backward and it is pretty quick. It appears to have 6 legs all on the front of its body. When touched, it raises its head up slightly. It almost loops up like an inchworm when running (it uses its tail to push itself along). My good camera is on the fritz so these are the best pics I could get.

Welcome to BugGuide!

Thank you
You are QUICK! I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I was worried that it might be poisonous, so thank you for allaying my fears!

many of us on bugguide would love to find one of these under our bed-they are very cool insects!

HA-HA-HA!
Never thought I'd hear someone say it would be good to find a bug under your bed!

We turned him loose near the flower bed. Hopefully he'll eat some of the little pests out there!
