Moved from
Pseudomasaris

You should also find
zonalis
in your area, probably at altitudes above 6000 ft., also
edwardsii
. Both species visit
Phacelia
for pollen,
edwardsii
also
Eriodictyon
.
P.
vespoides
utilizes
Penstemon
spp. as a pollen resource; where did you find this female?
At least two spp. of
Hydrophyllum
occur in Lassen county:
H. capitatum var. alpinum
,
H. occidentale
.
Pseudomasaris mcneilli
, is a pollen wasp known to use
Hydrophyllum
.

Thank You Hartmut!
... for your help with this wasp. This wasp was found here in Westwood. There is a fair amount of purple penstemon plants growing in the and fields around here, and That may be where I caught this wasp. There is also at least one species of
Phacelia
that grows in the fields and woods around here; so I will keep an eye open for species
zonalis
and
edwardsii
.
Hydrophyllum capitatum
also grows in the local woods, but does not seem to be real common.
