Camphorweed is abundant at this site, and the moths are common.

Yes, but I didn't want to jump to this conclusion. I have a friend who knows Wagner. Maybe I can get the shot to him.
Sometimes coastal stuff seems to be very under-represented in natural history coverage. However, lots of interesting things there, and concentrations of more widespread things. It's interesting that Camphorweed is so abundant at Jones Beach near the northern limit of its range. It only goes a few miles past there, yet I probably saw millions of plants yesterday (7 hours coverage) and tens of millions of flower heads - in just a small part of the park. I also go to Ft. Tilden, Queens a lot but am afraid to take the camera because the sand (garnet) there is very fine.
