Catocala Moth - Catocala myristica

Catocala Moth - Catocala myristica
Eddie Jones Park, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, USA
August 13, 2010
Size: about 2 inches
Catocala moths seem to be very similar. To me this looks most like Catocala habilis 8778. Is this correct? I did not see the underwing pattern.

.
do think this is myristica. It's very similar to the one's we determined were myristica here:

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/29649845
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/14388146

Also in an area where nutmeg hickory should occur.

Agreed
I created a myristica species page with pertinent info and moved to there.

.
Also looks like the related, recently described species myristica

I like it
I think you've nailed it. The reniform spot and thicker, black lower portion of the PM line looks good for myristica.

* This definitely appears to be a pale robinsonii, so I went ahead and moved it, but I'm leaving an asterisk here because I still want to look into this again given that there are hardly any examples of quite this pale of robinsonii. There are some immaculate forms of angusi which give me pause, and it has been recorded in northernmost parts of LA - where you are - so I could be wrong with this ID.
