This looks much more like a litter moth, especially given where you found it. Closest we find are Renia factiosalis, Owlets, pg 55

Sorry that we never got back to these
It was good to see you at Harms Woods yesterday. We may try to get out again soon. If we don't get too much rain we may be burning Monday or Tuesday so stick around! Anyway, we would say these are in the armyworm or cutworm sections of the Noctuidae, a lot of very similar looking caterpillars unfortunately. Check out Wagner, pages 432 to 438 and see what you think. We'll keep looking too.
