Tibicne lyricen var. engelhardti ("Dark Lyric Cicada")

This variety is generally more norhtern and inland. It can be found across the Piedmont Plateau, Cumberland Plateau, Appalachia into the northeast.

thanks for your advice! i've, in fact, been using those sites as a main information source so far, and also a site about cicadas of Michigan that has an identification key that's been useful to me. I'll be sure to join the cicada group, also!
