Katydid or Tree Cricket Nymph - Uroleucon

Katydid or Tree Cricket Nymph - Uroleucon
Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 28, 2010
Size: 3 mm
Unfortunately, I only got a hind view and fuzzy shot, but it seems somewhat diagnostic. I have a wide variety of katydid, cricket and grass hopper species, but didn't see anything like this. The body was very small, as it is sitting on the end portion of a rudbeckia pedal.

Neither :)
Alate (winged) aphid of some kind.

Humbled Again
Thanks. I have barely started with insects, and this is the already the second time I got stumped by an aphid. There is just too much to take in all at once with insects. I felt much more competent today sorting out fall warblers!

I'll bet it took you a while
to figure out those fall warblers, too. Give it time, and eventually you'll be just as comfortable with the bugs!
