Crane? - Microtendipes - female

Crane? - Microtendipes - Female
East Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island, USA
August 28, 2010
Size: ~9 to 10mm
I want to say it's a cranefly, but I'm unsure

Size is an estimate because a crazed Noctua pronuba moth decided to fly into it.
I was left with only a decent dorsal shot.

Moved
Moved from Chironomini. I am assuming that it the female of the similar males you had around the same time. I'm not certain.

I'm of the same mind.
With some hindsight, I'd have to say it does look like the same species as the males that were about. Thanks John.

Moved
Moved from Flies.

Big Midge
Cool. Pronotum shape is really midgy.
