BG2990 E8299hf - Anelaphus villosus

BG2990 E8299hf - Anelaphus villosus
Gloster, Gloster Arboretum, Amite County, Mississippi, USA
May 29, 2010
Size: body length 15.1 mm.
Collected at light. Does not appear to be a good match for Elaphidion mucronatum, but possibly E. sp.
Placement would be appreciated.

Your Longhorn!
G & J: Have you considered Anelaphus, possibly A. villosus. From all
the comments on previous submissions, a very difficult genus. A note
in (1) comments that A. villosus differs from A. parallelus
in having antennomere 3 distinctly longer than #4 which looks like
the case in your specimen. Check while we wait for the
experts to chime in.

I agree

Hi Bruce
Many thanks for your comments. Here are some notes I took when the photos were taken.
1. Outer elytral spines heavy, medium length. As seen in dorsal view, angled inward following curve of leading edge of elytra.
2. Pronotum wider (3.1 mm.) than long (2.6 mm.), curved sides.
3. Fourth antennomere longer (1.9 mm.) than third (1.6 mm.)
4. Spines on antennae short but broad.

Your Longhorn
Sorry about the dupe. I fat fingured a key.
