Spectacular Dragonfly - Anax junius

Spectacular Dragonfly - Anax junius
Silsbee, within the Big Thicket, Hardin County, Texas, USA
September 2, 2010
Spectacular guy fought with my shoplight for about an hour before I convinced him to hitch a ride outside on my hand.
Do they ALL look like cyclops when you take their picture?
Thanks!

I thought he was pretty special too, Laurel!
Thanks for appreciating him as much as I do!

What you have is a...
...male Common Green Darner (Anax junius).

You can read about them here on the Info Page which, by the way, mentions the "bull's eye".

Dragonfly
Thanks Ron!
You've been a big help!
