Given that the final instar looks so different
from the earlier ones, what do you think of these as possible final instars too?

Now I'm second guessing myself
I suppose it's possible that labels got mixed up on the container with the caterpillar. Since it looks so different, I think it should be unlinked and moved.

Sorry, that's not what we meant to say.
Our assumption is that you captured the final instar while the other images are of earlier instars. We don't know what else yours would be. There's nothing else like it in our books except the Sweetfern guy. We would be tempted to leave it until we actually discover that the caterpillar is another species.
