found this on the back deck. I think this might be the correct ID but I need someone who actually knows what to look for to confirm it for me. Thanks!

Many thanks!! Can you tell me
Many thanks!! Can you tell me what are the features that distinguish it?

Genus is easier than species.
The shape of the head, shape of wings wings, and length of legs combine to make it recognizable as Amblytropidia. As for species, I look at the same features, plus coloration, venation of the tegmina (if I can make it out), the place and date it was found. Even the color pattern and shape of the eye (when they are alive) can be a big help.

A good quick reference for many species is the Singing Insects of North America web site, and - of course - BugGuide. Other useful features, but most often not very visible in photos, include number and arrangement of spines on the legs, shape of the appendages at the tip of the abdomen, and even the placement and size (if there is one) of the tympanum on the front legs (basically the "ear").

Microcentrum is fairly closely related and similar looking, but it differs somewhat in all of these characteristics. Most obviously, the outline of the body and folded wings is a bit broader and more angular.

Many thanks! I appreciate you
