Walking Stick - Megaphasma denticrus

Walking Stick - Megaphasma denticrus
Illinois, USA
August 14, 2010
Size: about 7 Inches
Seen this walking stick in Steelville Mo. I'm not sure what the name would be. I've never seen a walking stick like this.

he's a pretty one
Moved from Walkingsticks.

Moved from ID Request.

Giant Walkingstick
Definitely a Giant Walkingstick (Megaphasma denticrus). No doubt about it.

walking stick
Have you ever seen any with that color? I've looked for weeks trying to find this coloring on the net and can't find any.

Beautiful phasmid
I have seen many full grown adults and subadults with this coloration before. This is a great find and also the largest phasmid we have in the United States!

All the time
We see these very often when camping in southern Indiana. I have several (not the best quality) photos of them in my collection. Try the guide page here:

I'm not for sure if this would fall into the striped walking sticks...Pseudophasmatidae
