Dragonfly in Squantum Massachusetts - Tramea lacerata

Dragonfly in Squantum Massachusetts - Tramea lacerata
Squantum, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA
September 6, 2010
Size: Around 2 inches
This dragonfly was resting about 2-3 feet off the ground and the photo was taken at around 4.30pm on 9/6/10. Even though it is not very clear on this picture, it had a black patch on the lower wing pair. Any idea what species it is and thanks in advance

Your ID of Black Saddlebags
Thank you VERY much for IDing the Black Saddlebags for me and it is very much appreciated. I had given up hope that someone would ID it for me after a few days of looking and so have not checked the website for nearly a month and this was a very pleasant surprise. Again, thanks very much and all the best. Colm Lawler
