Chrysomelid? - Coleorozena vittata

Chrysomelid? - Coleorozena vittata
Kelso Canyon, South of Weldon, Kern County, California, USA
July 16, 2010
Found on the annual composite Stephanomeria virgata ssp. virgata, in a wide, sandy, mountain valley in the semi-arid southeastern Sierra Nevada.

The beetle has a rounded, chunky look, with deeply grooved and widely cylindrical abdomen---reminiscent of certain Chrysomelids. Maybe Bruchinae or a "Case-Bearer"?

Coleorozena vittata (J. L. LeConte) -- det. E.G. Riley, 2010
[thanks for the addition, Aaron! =v=]

Moved from Clytrini.

Oчень хорошо! :-)
After your initial narrowing to Clytrini, I perused the BG pages for that tribe and noticed the similarity to genus Coleorozena. So I was hopeful we could get to genus. But getting to species is a special treat...as is adding a new taxon to BugGuide :-) Many thanks =v=, to both you and E. G. Riley!
