Beehive/Honeycomb removal - Apis mellifera

Beehive/Honeycomb removal - Apis mellifera
Sarasota County, Florida, USA
September 6, 2010
This removal started two weeks ago. There are still alot left. Apparently we don't have the queen, yet. I think the hive is also in the wall of my garage. Due to the awareness of CCD, the bees are being relocated to Myakka. The honey is great!

Great set of photos! Where were the bees located? Tell us more about this.

bees
Thank you much. Located on the north wall of my garage. There are two hollow vertical beams alongside the window. I thought this was a new swarm. The opposite beam has had bees in it for the past three years. I figured they needed a place to live(CCD?). That one will be opened after we collect all the bees from the beam in the posted pics. Its looking like some drywall removal. O well, its been interesting and I love honey. I'm wondering if anyone here would be interested in more pics of what we find. Its nowhere near over.
