Xylocopa male? - Xylocopa virginica - male

Xylocopa male? - Xylocopa virginica - Male
Archbold Biological Station - Lake Placid, Highlands County, Florida, USA
September 6, 2010
This is the other potential suspect for a male Xylocopa virginica krombeini. There were several similar bees working on liatris, goldenrod, and partridge pear. In previous encounters with Xylocopa males they were engaged in territory guarding and never landed anywhere. These were not at all concerned with territory and were busy pollinating.
