Baltimore Checkerspot - Euphydryas phaeton

Baltimore Checkerspot - Euphydryas phaeton
Sharon, Windsor County, Vermont, USA
July 3, 2004
The ID seems clear - Euphydryas phaeton. Any alternative? Is it possible to identify the gender?

This is near a marshy area with turtlehead (Chelone glabra), which I understand is the caterpillar's host plant. Larger view here.

Yes for Baltimore
and I checked 3 different books, and none of them distinguish between the sexes. Nice shots:-)
