Usually associated with grassy areas.(1)

Colonus sylvanus males look superficially the same as the males of this species but can be separated in the field by the type of white patch in the middle of the carapace. C. puerperus has a longitudinal white stripe that reaches almost to the posterior edge of the carapace. In contrast, the white patch is circular or square in C. sylvanus.
