Host plant
Yes, the host plant is a willow, could be either Pussy Willow or Prairie Willow. There is a small Viceroy (I think, it's very spiney) larva on the same bush.

Not a walnut sphinx
This larva doesn't look right for a walnut sphinx, and the hostplant which appears to be some sort of willow also does not match for the walnut sphinx. This is more likely either Smerinthus jamaicensis or Paonis excaecata.

I think the plant is some kind of willow, will try to ID it. This particular shrub is by itself in a weedy field and seems to attract many caterpillars, including viceroy and recently a nice io moth larva.
