Size: Length ~ 2 cm
Hmmm... could this noctuid be an example of the Rosewing Moth (Sideridis rosea)? It seems to resemble a couple BG images for this species, but I've been fooled by striking similarities many, many times before. Thanks for any help you can share as I wrestle with putting names on late season noctuid moths. ;-)

Epiglaea apiata
It's one of the Sallows, probably Epiglaea apiata. They're fall species, so the September date makes sense. I'm thinking E. apiata because of the dark parches in the lower portions of the reniform spot and the yellowish band just outside of the pm line... Compare to the images here:

Golly, I think you may be right! This specimen really does resemble Epiglaea apiata (Hodges 9947)! Thanks for your help! ;-)
