cat-faced spider - Araneus gemmoides - Female

Size: ~ 25 mm
I took shots of all the varieties of the cat-faced spider population under the deck. This is the only one I'll show confirmation of species (epigyne) but all are confirmed as cat-faced.

Really nice images. Is that with ring flash or a diffusor of some sort?

It's a little unnerving to climb to the top of a ladder and stick a camera in these large spiders' faces, but they never even twitched. There are probably 20 of these fat ladies under the deck. A nice healthy population!
