Larvae - Head reddish brown to dark reddish brown usually with indistinct maculation. Dorsal and lateral aspects of thorax dark olive green becoming pale olive green on abdomen; pale lateral patches on thorax and broad pale lateral streak on abdomen ; venter pale olive green.

probably occurs throughout most of eastern United States and southeastern Canada.

Larvae bore into new shoots then tie them together with silken thread. Full grown larvae construct oval cocoons.
