Unidentified wasp (?) on coyote brush (Baccharis pilularis)

Unidentified wasp (?) on coyote brush (Baccharis pilularis)
Carpinteria Bluffs, Carpinteria, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
September 12, 2010
Size: ~1.2 cm
This wasp (I assume?) was crawling around on a female coyote brush (Baccharis pilularis) in a mixed coastal sage scrub/meadow habitat on a coastal bluff. Any help with the ID would be great. Thanks!

Auplopodini...
is about as far as I can get this one, based on the apprent slenderness of the first tergite; although I do have to say it strongly resembles those wasps in the cupida group of the genus Ageniella. That IS NOT a genus ID, just a suggestion.

Spider Wasp.
Something in the family Pompilidae, but can't say much more than that from images alone. Most spider wasps require the actual specimen for a genus and species ID.
