Two-tailed Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio multicaudatus
. They are normally green when up in the trees, but turn a brownish color when they wander off to find a place to pupate. They tend to get noticed most when wandering around like this. Your's is probably done eating and will just hang itself up on a stick or the side of the container and shed it's skin. At this late date, the pupa probably won't "eclose" (hatch) this year, but will wait till next spring (I could be wrong). Also, if kept to warm during the winter, it might hatch in the middle of the winter.
Odds are that this one was feeding on an Ash Tree (tends to be their favorite food in town - while it's Chokecherry if avaiable, as up in the canyons).
