Anthera polyphemus - Owl Eye Moth - Antheraea polyphemus - Male Female
Pensacola (Ferry Pass), Escambia County, Florida, USA
September 13, 2010
Size: body ca. 2.5 in.
Owl eye pair joined during mating. The pair's choice of boudoir was the windshield wiper of my parked car. They were joined there for several hours after I discovered them. The hairs and scales on the windshield and surroundings are from mating activities.
