Dragonfly(?) Exuviae on Rock -
Paragnetina immarginata
Thetford State Park, Orange County, Vermont, USA
August 29, 2004
Is this a dragonfly? Damselfly?
Unfortunately, I don't remember the size.

Beautiful Stonefly
From the markings on this evacuated shuck, it is most likely
Paragnetina immarginata
. Although the markings on other large perlids can be very similar, these seem to match
immarginata
perfectly. (BTW, "beautiful stone" is the Stark, et al. nickname for this species.)

Truly a beautiful photo of a
Truly a beautiful photo of a stonefly exuvia, likely of family Perlodidae. Do you have a ventral photo of it, or if you retained the exuvia, can you take a ventral photo of it? Also, if you retained it, a dorsal photo showing the head would be useful.

Only dorsal views
I'm afraid I only have dorsal views. I posted a
closeup of the head
for what it's worth.

Closeup of head
Peter-
Darn. The head isn't really visible in either photo. The anterior-most exuvial segment visible is the prothorax. Anyway, wonderful photo!

At least I'll know to try to get a face-shot the next time.

Caddisfly?
Definately not an ode. I'm thinking it's a
Zebra Caddisfly
exuviae.
