Plant Bug - Euschistus conspersus

Plant Bug - Euschistus conspersus
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
September 7, 2010
Size: Approx. 1/2 to 5/8"
I'd never knowingly seen one before and I'm near certain it's a plant bug. After taking several shots I nudged it carefully hoping it would move so that I could get a new angle, but it remained motionless and I left. I returned a bit later to find it had moved to a different flower head but because it's such a flat little bug, the same problem existed. It's color appeared to be solid beige to the eye. Only on my iMac did its speckled pattern become apparent.

Thanks for your correct ID (goes to show what I know!!) and I've since learned that approx. 4700 species have been ID'd in 900 genera. Bugs are fairly new to me and I promise to never again use the word 'certain'. DJ
