Explanation of Names
Whether the common name reflects the habits of the species is not clear. Literature lists the larval host as "unknown" or "not reported", and it seems unlikely that this species is an indoor dweller at all.
It seems likely that the name refers to the appearance of the adult moth itself.

Adults in late summer and autumn.
Remarks
Will sometimes come to lights in numbers. Sometimes common, but very little is published on the species.
